ARTIST STATEMENT
My art is influenced by the weird and wonderful vibrance i encounter day to day living in the heart of a city and my experiences both professionally and personally with mental health.
I seek to exploit juxtaposition.
through my work i aim to uncover the unusual and vibrant within the humdrum and mundane, and to shed light on the beautiful pandemonium that can exist within mental illness.
This is expressed in an illustrative, vibrant and often whimsical interpretation of the textures and layers of life around me, and is reflected in my use of bright colors and frequent inclusion of an erratic array of mixed media elements such as gold leaf, resin, pyrography, origami, printmaking and screen printing.
i look to spark something within the viewer, negative or positive, deep or superficial, dismay or delight.
a conversation, a connection.
